Using preservative for dry hay - Hay & Forage Forum
My hay operation is small, (vegetables are our primary crops, but started putting up hay bc we always had the equipment and the hay works in nicely with rotations) approx. 30 acres and do all small squares. Straight alfalfa, alf mix and recently tried a little timothy too. The first year we didn't run any sort of preservative.

Brush hog for hay - Hay & Forage Forum

Hay Fire Safety Reminder | Hay & Forage Forum
Studies have shown hay fires often occur within 6 weeks of baling high moisture hay. Some of us have hay in that time-frame that may have been baled in excess of 20 percent moisture. To be safe small rectangular bales should have moisture content less than 20 percent and large rectangular or...

Have a few questions about hay quality! | Hay & Forage Forum
I've custom baled hay for over 35 yrs & sometimes weather deals making hay a heavy blow! I seriously doubt hay producers are harvesting/selling moldy hay that is being regularly shipped as good hay to other countries. I have no experience baling hay utilizing preservatives but I've read where applying preservatives will control mold up to a certain moisture % but does give hay a different ...
